Sambutan is the counter for counter training method where just as one side attempts the technique, the other side counters and moves into his own technique and then the first side counters again. This goes on and on continuously. The camp trainees did punching against punching, locking against locking, and weapons against weapons. Most interesting was the staff against staff close quarter. Sambutan is a traditional method of developing the counter-attack that is powerful allowing the practitioners to develop their timing, distance and sensitivity for close in-fighting without the chance of getting hurt. This years camp had several MI staff members on hand to work with the practitioners and give &#8220;the feel&#8221; which is so important to understanding the pressure and angles to move on. In attendance were practitioners from New York, Virginia, Washington, and Florida as well as members from MI headquarters. Congrats to all.</p>
